    EU-Russia Year of Science 2014 Closing Event: 'EU-Russia STI collaboration – Good practice examples from the Year of Science and beyond.'

    This final event of the EU-Russia Year of Science 2014 will be the occasion to highlight the achievements of the Year of Science, present good practice from the areas of mutually beneficial cooperation and finally illustrate the potential for Science, Technology and Innovation cooperation in the future. The event will be free of charge for participants, but registration will be mandatory. Participation is limited to a specific number of persons. Registration will open on 6 October 2014 and is based on the principle of 'first come, first serve'. The registration tool will be closed on 10 November at the latest.

    Developing Cooperation between Russian and European Technology Platforms

    Technology platforms, which allow participants to allocate resources more sensibly and efficiently, are a relatively new STI policy tool. They were originally designed in the early 2000s in Europe and then, following their successful application, adopted in Russia. On 20 May 2014 prospects for cooperation between Russian and European technology platforms were discussed in an international workshop at the Higher School of Economics under the aegis of the EU-Russia Year of Science 2014 in the framework of the BILAT-RUS Advanced project.

    EU-Russia Year of Science opened!

    The EU-Russia Year of Science was celebrated with a colourful and high-ranking opening ceremony on Monday, 25 November 2013 in Moscow. More than 300 guests from science, politics, business and media attended at Moscow's impressive 'Radisson Royal' Congress Center, also known as Hotel 'Ukraina'. The Russian Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov and the European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science Máire Geoghegan-Quinn welcomed the guests.

    'EU-Russia Year of Science 2014' website launched!

    The "EU-Russia Year of Science 2014" has just launched its own website and invites the research community, administrative bodies active in STI policies and funding as well as other interested parties to join in. You can already submit your EU-Russia science events, subscribe to the newsletter or get in touch with the organisers. This year long series of events is meant to highlight the achievements and the potential of the rich science and research cooperation between Russia and Europe. The "EU-Russia Year of Science 2014" will start with an official opening ceremony on 25 November 2013 in Moscow.

    'EU-Russia Year of Science 2014' to be coordinated by BILAT-RUS Advanced project

    At the 30th EU-Russia summit in December 2012, Commission President Barroso announced that 2014 will be the 'EU-Russia Year of Science, Technology and Innovation' underlining the strong Russian participation in the 7th EU Research Framework Programme. The Year of Science will bring together scientists, research organisations, and innovators in a year long series of joint events. The BILAT RUS Advanced project has been entrusted with running the secretariat of the EU Russia Year of Science.

    First issue of the S&T Gate RUS.EU newsletter in the frame of BILAT-RUS-Advanced

    The S&T Gate RUS.EU newsletter continues with issue No.8, the first to be published in the frame of the BILAT-RUS-Advanced project. The colleagues at the Russian National Contact Point on Biotechnology / A.N. Bach Institute of Biochemistry (RAS) have taken over this task. A subscription tool for the newsletter is available on the home page of the S&T Gate RUS.EU web portal.

    New Document: EU-EECA Cooperation 'From Dialogue to Joint Programmes' – Conference Conclusions

    The EU sponsored Science and Technology cooperation with Russia, the countries of the EU’s Eastern neighbourhood, South Caucasus and Central Asia is looking back on a splendid track record. In order to develop perspectives for a future cooperation, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) invited to an international conference, which took place in Bonn on 10 and 11 of October 2012. The conclusions of this event are now available.

    From BILAT-RUS to BILAT-RUS-Advanced

    On 22-23 November 2012 the new project 'BILAT-RUS-Advanced' was launched with a Kick-off Meeting in Moscow. Among other activities BILAT-RUS-Advanced will provide input for the EU-Commission on the state of EU-Russian STI cooperation, contribute to coordinate research policies and programmes, enhance information collection and dissemination, and more.
