An Information Session on the European Union’s Horizon 2020 funding programme for research and innovation took place in September 5, 2014 in Tomsk, in the framework of the 13th plenary meeting of the Asian Network of Major Cities 21. The Information Session was organised by National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University.The objective of the event was to promote opportunities for EU-Russia cooperation in science, technology and innovation through dissemination of information on new EU programme Horizon 2020, as well as to raise awareness on BILAT-RUS-Advanced project.
Over 80 representatives of cities such as Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Barnaul, Kemerovo, Yurga, Novokuznetsk attended the event.
The Information Session opened with a welcome speech of Prof. Mikhail Sonkin, the Vice-Governor for scientific and educational affairs and innovation policy of Tomsk Region. From Tomsk Polytechnic University, Dr. Sergey Baidali, TPU Deputy Vice-Rector for Research and Innovations greeted the International Session participants.
Dr. Olga Mazurina, Head of TPU Division for International Affairs, made a presentation on peculiarities of participation of Russian researchers in EC STI projects: FPs history, main features of EU-RU collaboration, cultural differences, recommendations for potential participants of EU-funded projects, information about ACCESSRU and BULAT-RUS-Advanced projects.
The next speaker Mrs. Olga Gashouk, Expert of TPU Centre for International Partnership Development, made a presentation on Horizon 2020. The speaker presented an overview of the programme, opportunities for EU-Russia S&T cooperation, funding opportunities, new terms and conditions of participation for Russian researchers, etc.
Further the floor was given to Ms. Larissa Dorzheeva, Analytic of TPU Centre for International Partnership Development. She presented step-by-step scheme of RU researchers’ participation in H2020: how to find a suitable call for proposal, how to find project partner, how to work with Participant Portal, about H2020 call for expression of interest for experts. The speaker also highlighted the H2020 calls targeting Russia.
In the conclusion, Ms. Natalia Vjyuzhanina, Director of TPU Centre for International Partnership Development told the audience about the possibilities for RU participants to take part in ERASMUS+ programme.
Each presentation was followed by a Q&A and discussion.
